Hot rolled steel plates are produced by rolling steel billets at high temperatures, which increases the plasticity of the steel. During rolling, less external force and energy are required, eliminating the need for complex subsequent processes such as multiple cold rolling and annealing steps like cold-rolled plates. This not only reduces equipment losses but also lowers labor and energy inputs. This low-cost production process makes the market price of hot-rolled plates much lower than that of cold-rolled plates. And some hot-rolled acid washed coils can partially replace cold-rolled plates after treatment, but their prices are moderate. For scenarios that pursue cost control and do not require high surface accuracy, the cost-effectiveness advantage is particularly obvious.
On the one hand, the production process of hot-rolled plates is suitable for large-scale mass production, which can significantly dilute fixed costs such as equipment depreciation and labor management per ton of product. As market supply gradually increases, its price also remains at a low level. On the other hand, many domestic hot-rolled plate suppliers rely on the local well-established industrial chain and abundant raw material resources to reduce additional expenses for raw material transportation and procurement.
